Types of EYPUK Events
Here you can find information about the different kinds of events that we run and how to get involved in them.
EYPUK Regional Fora
Each year, we run around 15 Regional Fora across the UK, which are one-day events designed for newer members. These events consist of school delegations taking part in a General Assembly where each delegation/committee defends a pre-written resolution.
To get involved in these events as a Delegate, please contact regionals@eypuk.co.uk to register your interest.
To get involved as an Official, each year leading up to the Fora we send out a form to all of our members, where they can express their interest in participating in different roles.
EYPUK National Sessions
National Sessions are the largest events we run each year: 4-5 days in length with roughly 120 participants each. We usually have one National Session in the Summer, and another in the Autumn. School delegations that were selected at Regionals are sent to one of the two National Sessions.
Our National Sessions are structured as follows:
- Teambuilding: The delegates are divided into their chosen committees with students from other delegations. They complete teambuilding games and activities to strengthen the bonds within the committee.
- Committee Work: The delegates start working on a resolution in their committees to current issue in European politics, following the structure and style of resolutions written in the European Parliament.
- General Assembly: After constructing their resolutions, committees will debate one another following the model of the European Parliament. Each committee will be given an opportunity to defend their own resolution. At the end of each debate, the resolution that was discussed is voted upon by the delegates.
- Cultural Activities: Some EYP sessions include cultural activities where individuals can share their own culture and learn a little about other cultures as well. Some examples of cultural activities include Eurovillage (where participants can bring foods from their countries for others to try), and cultural days out such as visiting a museum.
EYPUK EurVoice Outreach Events
EurVoice is a unique community outreach scheme designed to engage secondary school age students from across the UK, launched in 2010. It works by running free and inclusive one-day forums every year that involve group work and influential guest speakers, giving young people the opportunity to discuss and engage with issues that affect their local communities.
If you would like more specific information regarding these events, please contact eurvoice@eypuk.co.uk.
EYPUK Members’ Training Events
Towards the end of each year we run a Members’ Training Weekend, which is a weekend full of EYP-related modules and bonding activities for our members. Members are able to gain in-depth insights from experienced EYPers on subjects including how EYP works, different roles at EYP events and how to apply for them, and how EYP experiences can be applied to university and job applications.
